21/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 17 November, Fabrice Leggeri, the director of the European Border and Coastguard Agency (formerly Frontex), presented the agency’s multiannual objectives and strategic orientations for 2017-2019. Mr Leggeri was keen to highlight the need for more integrated management on the issue of returns and explained ”Last October, we asked the European Commission to introduce a genuine returns system”. The director also called on member states to set up a network of contacts at a national level. Mr Leggeri emphasised “The Commission must also look at the question of legal protection for all our officials and networks working in non-EU countries”. The agency also announced the immediate creation of 50 new posts out of the 220 posts proposed by the Commission for 2017. (TR)
