On Monday 21 November, the European Commission confirmed the visit of its Vice-President for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič to Moscow on Friday 25 November in order to discuss bilateral energy cooperation with Russia's Minister for Energy Alexander Novak.
The Russian energy ministry had announced at the end of last week that Šefčovič and Novak had agreed to meet on this date, after several unsuccessful attempts at synchronising their diaries since September.
