10/11/2016 (Agence Europe) – Many energy consumers in the EU are finally beginning to reap the benefits of the single energy market and its lower prices. The average household gas bill fell by 4.2% in 2015 compared with 2014, according to a recent monitoring report from the European Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), unveiled on Wednesday 9 November. The trend for lower wholesale prices observed in a number of countries in recent years is reflected in the energy bills for industry and household gas bills but not in household electricity bills, states the report.
