25/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 25 October, the European Parliament endorsed the Council’s backing for Draft Amending Budget Number 3 for the EU’s budget for 2016 concerning extra payment and commitment appropriations to boost security measures in EU institutions and European schools, following a number of attacks (see EUROPE 1644, 11584). The amount requested is €15.8 million, financed without any new money but rather by redeploying appropriations from the ITER operational budget line (the experimental international thermonuclear reactor). The draft amending budget includes an adjustment to the staff headcount at the European Parliament, creating 35 extra positions for security agents. (LC)
