Walloon Region and Bulgaria and Romania continue to cast doubt over signing of CETA by EU

The process for the EU’s signing of the free-trade agreement with Canada remained deadlocked as we went to press on Wednesday 19 October.  Certain Belgian federal entities are refusing to grant the federal government of Belgium full powers to approve the signing, and Bulgaria and Romania, still awaiting written confirmation from the Canadian government of resolution of the issue of liberalisation of the Canadian visa system for their nationals, have not lifted their reservations.
