Naftogaz begins arbitration against Russia to recover $2.6 billion in assets stolen in Crimea

On Monday 17 October, the Ukrainian energy gas group Naftogaz and six of its subsidiaries commenced arbitration against the Russian Federation to recover damages arising from the latter's unlawful seizure of the group’s assets in Crimea.  On Wednesday 19 October, Naftogaz said that it had filed the arbitration under the Russia-Ukraine bilateral investment treaty.
