European water is under pressure from numerous quarters, including pollution, increased demand and the greater frequency and intensity of agriculture- and climate change-related issues which are compromising security of supply and exacerbating droughts and water shortages, EU environment ministers acknowledged in Luxembourg on Monday 17 October.
