13/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 October, the European Commission announced the launch of the third call for proposals as part of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), which will involve a total envelope of €1.9 billion. The aim is to finance projects in the transport sector. The 15 member states eligible for cohesion funding are those whose Gross National Income (GNI) is below 90% of the EU average and they have received around €1.1 billion. This is the third call for proposals (see EUROPE 11575, 11492). It is unlikely to be the last, given that another call is expected to be launched at the end of the period with the remaining amounts. There will also be another CEF project call for financial instruments. Current calls mainly involve subsidies. (PH)
