13/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 October, the European Commission signed a decision granting support of €84 million to help provide better access to health care for the mothers and children of Burkina Faso. Along with this aid will come further support of €4 million for civil society working in the health sector. The financial assistance provided by the EU will support the pilot phase of health insurance for all. It will help the government, in its reform of the health sector, to finance investment in health districts which are performing poorly, to purchase food supplements for malnourished children and to guarantee continued exemption from payment for children and expectant mothers, a Commission press release says.
