The Commission is looking for views on various aspects of controls on mergers and so launched a public consultation on Friday 7 October, aimed at citizens, businesses, associations, public authorities and other stakeholders.
The consultation will mainly cover three aspects: - the effectiveness of notification thresholds based solely on turnover, with the possibility of including other criteria alongside the existing thresholds to take account of certain categories of operations in sectors such as digital services and pharmaceutical products; - using the simplified procedure to deal with operations not generally posing any competition issues; - the functioning of the system of referring cases between the member states and the EU.
