07/10/2016 (Agence Europe) – Facebook is the website that respects people’s privacy the least, said a jury of professionals selected by the EDRI defence of civil rights on the internet organisation on Thursday 6 October when awarding the Big Brother Belgium Prize 2016. Facebook is a company worth several billions dollars that has just one product – you!, commented EDRI mongering director Joe McNamee. He explained that Facebook had been nominated for the prize because their default parameters are damaging to privacy. It is impossible to understand what personal data you have given up when you use Facebook since the data algorithms that make new hypotheses about users are constantly evolving. (SPj)
