30/09/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 29 September, EuroCommerce, Independent Retail Europe and UEAPME wrote to the permanent representation of Slovakia to the EU, listing their concerns about the revision of energy labelling, which is currently under inter-institutional negotiations (see EUROPE 11588). They argue that not nearly enough time has been earmarked for distributors to replace the current labelling, as they will have just three weeks once the regulation has entered into force, whereas UEAPME called for a minimum of six months. The signatories of the letter feel that resellers should be given more time to adapt their internal processes, particularly for SMEs. According to a source close to the dossier, too little time could have exactly the opposite effect to the one intended and will have an impact on the quality and credibility of the labelling. (PH)
