29/09/2016 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 29 September, the European Commission sent Estonia and Poland two further reasoned opinions regarding their incomplete transposition of the 2012/27/EU directive on energy efficiency. This was supposed to have been fully transposed into national law by 5 June 2014 at the latest. The Commission has identified persistent shortcomings in Estonian and Polish legislation regarding transposition of the directive. Both countries have two months to comply with their obligations, failing which, the Commission may decide to refer the two member states to the Court of Justice of the EU. (EH)
