Three member states sent to European Court of Justice over unpaid customs duty

On Monday 29 September, the European Commission decided to send Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom to the European Court of Justice for failure to pay customs duty, totalling €23.3 million, to the EU budget.

The Commission points out that if a member state does not pay its full contribution to the EU budget, then other member states will have to make up the shortfall.
