20/09/2016 (Agence Europe) – During the General Affairs Council on Tuesday 20 September, the member states endorsed the agreement signed last February between the EU and Andorra on the automatic exchange of information on the bank accounts of their respective residents. The exchange will begin in 2018. In compliance with this new agreement, member states will obtain the names, addresses, tax identification numbers and dates of birth of their residents who have accounts in Andorra, as well as other information on their financial situation and account balances. The European Parliament endorsed the agreement last March (see EUROPE 11508). The EU has negotiated similar agreements with Switzerland, Monaco Liechtenstein and San Marino. (EL)
