Parliament approves appointment of Sir Julian King as commissioner

15/09/2016 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament voted by a wide majority (394 votes to 161, with 83 abstentions) in Strasbourg on Thursday 15 September to approve the appointment of Sir Julian King, from the United Kingdom, as Commissioner for the Security Union.  The Parliament has thus followed the opinion of its civil liberties, justice and home affairs committee (see EUROPE 11623) which had held a hearing with the candidate commissioner on Monday evening (see EUROPE 11622).  The...
