07/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - Commission confirms random railway transport sector inspections. On Wednesday, 6 July, the European Commission confirmed that it had carried out random inspections in the railway passenger transport sector in several member states. The Commission is concerned that the companies concerned may be part of a number of agreements to exclude competing transport operators from the market. The Commission explained that its inspectors had been accompanied by the national competition authorities but it did not provide a list of the member states involved. It pointed out that it did not have a specific cut-off date for these kinds of inspections. (EL)
