07/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - FEMISE study exploring structural transformation and industrial policy in four partner countries. The Euro-Mediterranean Network of Economics Institutes (FEMISE) published a study on Thursday 2 June, entitled “Structural Transformation and Industrial Policy: A Comparative Analysis of Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey”. These four countries are closely associated with the EU which provides assistance and helps finance their development. The study was conducted by the Economic Research Forum with the financial support of the FEMIP Trust Fund at the European Investment Bank and of the European Commission. It suggests that “the focus of these industrial policies should be on the promotion of the high quality activities (increasing returns)” and says that “these policies should also help create new comparative advantages so as not to rely on the low-value existing ones. This should be coupled with investment incentives towards innovative products”. (FB)
