07/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU repeats its call on adoption of judicial reform. European External Action Service and European Commission spokesperson Maja Kocijancic, speaking on Tuesday 7 June, repeated Europe's call for Albania to adopt its judicial reform as speedily as possible after the conciliation meeting the previous day between the Albanian prime minister and the leader of the opposition to discuss the draft law came to nought. “The meeting was a missed opportunity but our position remains unchanged: the reform has to go ahead”, Kocijancic told the press. Highlighting the importance of the reform, she hoped that discussions would resume. Reform of the judicial system is one of the conditions to be met before Albania's accession negotiations can begin. On Sunday 5 June, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy Federica Mogherini called for the reform to be adopted (see EUROPE 11566). (CG)
