07/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - Mogherini on official visit to Canada. Preparation of the EU-Canada summit in October, at which the EU-Canada free-trade agreement (CETA) is due to be signed, will be the focus of the two-day visit to Ottawa of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 June. Her visit will provide an opportunity to take stock of and make progress in the bilateral cooperation agenda in a number of key areas, such as foreign policy cooperation, trade, migration, the Arctic and climate change. On Wednesday, Mogherini and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Stéphane Dion will jointly chair the first EU-Canada Transatlantic Dialogue to take place at foreign minister level since the last federal elections in Canada which brought the government of Liberal Justin Trudeau to power. Mogherini will also meet with Immigration Minister John McCallum, International Trade Minister Chrystia Freeland and the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the Parliament of Canada. (EH)
