07/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU to continue security cooperation with Central Asian countries. Highlighting the violent attacks in the city of Aktobe in Kazakhstan causing several casualties on Sunday 5 June, the spokesperson of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said on Tuesday 7 June that the EU would continue to work with Kazakhstan and the other countries of Central Asia in addressing security threats and challenges and in preventing the spread of violent extremism. “The EU condemns radicalism and extremism in all its forms”, the spokesperson said in a press release, reiterating that the “fundamental freedoms of all citizens must be guaranteed in the pursuit of security and counter-terrorism operations”.
