Brussels, 29/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - In a reasoned opinion sent on Thursday 28 April, the European Commission called on Germany to ensure correct transposition of the directives in the 3rd liberalisation package, the electricity directive (2009/72/EC) and the gas directive (2009/73/EC).
Berlin stands accused of not correctly incorporating into national law several requirements relating to the independent transmission operator and of ensuring full compliance with some rules regarding the powers of the national regulatory authority. The Commission also notes some deficiencies in the transposition of consumer protection rules.
Germany has two months to inform the Commission of the measures taken to remedy the situation; otherwise, the European Commission may decide to refer the case to the Court of Justice of the EU. (Original version in French by Emmanuel Hagry)
