29/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - Cañete in Japan for G7 energy ministers meeting. EU Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete will take part in the meeting of G7 energy ministers (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and United States) in Kitakyushu, Japan on 1-2 May. The main items on the agenda are global energy security, energy investment for global economic growth and sustainable energy. The meeting will also discuss cybersecurity of energy infrastructure, innovation and deployment of new energy technologies, and support for energy sector reforms in Ukraine. On the sidelines of the G7, Cañete will meet with Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Motoo Hayashi, United States Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, and with Canada's Minister of Natural Resources Jim Carr. In Tokyo on Monday, the commissioner will meet Japan's Environment Minister Tamayo Marukawa and representatives of Japanese industry. (EH)
