Brussels, 02/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 2 December, the European Commission confirmed that its services had carried out unannounced inspections in the passenger rail transport sector and related services in Austria, on 24 November.
The Commission had concerns that the companies in question had breached EU rules banning cartels, restrictive commercial practices and abuse of dominant position. The Commission is investigating possible practices aiming to exclude competing passenger rail transport operators from the market.
The unannounced inspections do not prejudge the outcome of the investigation, the Commission stresses. For these inspections, European civil servants were accompanied by their counterparts from the Austrian competition authority. (Original version in French by Élodie Lamer)
