19/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - EU hails peaceful conduct of presidential elections. The European Union has taken note of the provisional results of the 11 October presidential elections in the Republic of Guinea and, on Friday 16 October, hailed “the high turnout rate and the peaceful conduct of these elections”. This is “despite the significant logistic and organisational difficulties encountered in the preliminary statement of the EU election observation mission”, said the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini. The EU calls for calm while the definitive results are awaited, and asks for the appropriate legal routes to be followed for any possible consultation as regards the results of the elections. The EU observers will continue their mission until the electoral process is over. (AN)
