19/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Pedro Serrano appointed Deputy Secretary General for CSDP and Crisis Response. On Monday 19 October, the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced that High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini had appointed Pedro Serrano De Haro Soriano as new Deputy Secretary General for Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and Crisis Response at the EEAS. Serrano, a Spanish diplomat, will take up his post on 1 November 2015. He was interim managing director at the EEAS for the operational coordination of crisis response, and previously also served as principal adviser on external affairs to the former president of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, and as head of the EU delegation to the United Nations in New York. Serrano has been active in the field of CDSP since 2000, including as head of the directorate for civilian crisis management at the General Secretariat of the Council. (CG)
