Brussels, 24/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Employment and Social Affairs Commissioner Marianne Thyssen has organised a meeting on Friday 25 September with the management bodies of the European Social Fund (ESF) and the European Fund for Aid to the Disadvantaged (FEAD) to see how the two funds can be mobilised to deal with the migration crisis.
On Thursday 24 September, the European Commission said that the meeting would provide an opportunity to see how “to better use the available FEAD and ESF resources to respond to the refugee crisis by optimising the impact of the social inclusion and labour market integration measures.” Representatives of the member states will take advantage of the meeting to gain an overview of best practices within the EU.
Ahead of the meeting, Marianne Thyssen said: “Financial support from the European Social Fund can play a crucial role in supporting the integration of asylum seekers and refugees, providing them with the possibility to participate in their host societies - both socially and economically.” (Original version in French by Jan Kordys)
