Commission introduces new consultation tools

Brussels, 01/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 1 July, the European Commission announced the introduction of new public consultation tools on its legislative work.

On 19 May, the Commission announced a number of new public consultation tools. It is currently implementing an initial series of initiatives of this kind, offering the stakeholders the opportunity to comment on Commission policy documents and proposals.

Under this system, the stakeholders will firstly be given the opportunity to comment on the roadmaps and initial impact analyses on any new legislation. Citizens and stakeholders will be given a say very early on in the policy development cycle, before the impact assessment and the related 12-week public consultation are launched.

Secondly, after the Commission has adopted a legislative proposal, the citizens will again be given the opportunity to submit their comments, for a period of eight weeks. These comments will be collected and sent to the co-legislators. All submissions will be made public. Citizens can access these new tools through the website 'Your voice in Europe (http://ec.europa.eu/yourvoice/index_fr.htm ). (Lionel Changeur)
