01/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - Summit of locally elected representatives on sidelines of COP 21. On Tuesday 30 June, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and the mayor of New York, Michael R. Bloomberg, announced that a summit of locally elected representatives for the climate will be held on the sidelines of the world climate conference (COP 21) that will take place in Paris in December. The objective is of this summit is to encourage cities and local authorities at global level to take ambitious commitments on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and to propose concrete actions in order to fulfil these commitments. The summit will also enable the interests of the locally elected representatives to be heard during the conference, according to those who initiated the project. (PH)
