Ideas to stimulate cross-border electronic trade

Strasbourg, 30/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, 29 April 2015, the organisation Ecommerce Europe put forward its proposals to stimulate cross-border e-commerce in Europe.

According to the organisation, there are currently three major obstacles to trade of this kind: the different national legal frameworks, logistics issues and costs related to VAT. It therefore calls for a harmonisation of the rules, a standardisation of value-added tax and for greater transparency in delivery costs for cross-border packages (see EUROPE 11301). Marlene ten Ham, secretary general of Ecommerce Europe, observed in a press release that “for merchants, there are still plenty of opportunities for growth by expanding into new European markets”.
