Brussels, 01/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament budgets committee gave its approval on Wednesday 1 April to the draft Council regulation amending the 2014-2020 multiannual financial framework (MFF). This text, which will be put to the vote in the plenary session on 15 April, allows the transfer of €21.1 billion in commitment appropriations that remained unused in 2014.
The revision of the MFF regulation will mean that €16.5 billion can be transferred to the 2015 budget, €4.5 billion to the 2016 budget and €100 million to the 2017 budget. These commitment appropriations remained unused in 2014 because of the late adoption of 300 of the 645 programmes under member state management. The programmes concerned relate to structural funding, cohesion funding, the rural development fund, the maritime and fisheries fund and funding in the area of asylum, migration and domestic security.
