Brussels, 01/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - Greek Minister of the Interior Nikos Voutsis threatened in an interview with German newspaper Der Spiegel on 1 April that Greece would not pay back its loan instalment to the IMF on 9 April if EU aid is not disbursed on time.
Voutsis said that, if no money arrives by 9 April, the government would start by paying people's pay and pensions in Greece, and then they would ask their foreign partners to understand that they would not be able to pay the €450 million instalment due to the IMF. “There is no chance that Greece will not meet its obligations to the IMF on April 9”, government spokesman Gabriel Sakellaridis explained later. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will be in Moscow on 8 April. Economic Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said that Russia was not an alternative for Greece, whose place was in the eurozone.
