Brussels, 01/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - At the 17th Franco-German Council of Ministers in Berlin on Tuesday 31 March, Germany and France agreed to “work together” to implement the Energy Union, the Juncker Commission's project to integrate the European energy market.
“Germany and France will make a contribution to it, notably through concrete cooperation projects on renewable energies, electricity distribution networks and cross-border cooperation between exemplary areas for energy transition”, reads the joint statement signed by Chancellor Angela Merkel and President François Hollande, who jointly chaired the work on Tuesday.
Berlin and Paris also pledged to continue joint work in the field of research, particularly on electricity storage. The high-level group on energy and increasingly close work between the French environment and energy agency (ADEME) and the German energy agency (DENA) will help to identify and support these projects, the statement says.
