Brussels, 24/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 24 March, the Janssen Health Policy Centre published an innovative digital scoreboard, the “EU Disease Lens” (http://www.diseaselens.com ).
This scoreboard obtains and compares data on 15 of the most critical diseases in the 28 member states of the EU. This data comes from public sources such as the WHO and the European Commission. The EU Disease Lens provides information about global R & D projects, the latest medicines to be approved on the European market, data distribution on diseases by member states, prevalence ratios, the total number of patients affected by diagnosed diseases and the comparison of epidemiological data. The launch of this instrument coincides with World Tuberculosis Day. At this event, the Commissioner for Health, Vytenis Andriukaitis, underlined the importance of stepping up the fight against tuberculosis in the EU because this disease has still not been eradicated and the number of multi-resistant tuberculosis cases is increasing (see EUROPE 11276).
