Brussels, 11/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - The European Vice-President for the Digital Single Market, Andrus Ansip, is encouraging different stakeholders to continue to provide comments and ideas to the dedicated online website on the digital agenda. Contributions will help towards providing a presentation of the critical points and ideas to be developed during the debate at the College of Commissioners on 25 March next (see EUROPE 11268).
In his blog on 9 March, Ansip said: “Please keep it coming and use the website actively. It really matters… we need to collect the ideas and comments before that date”. The Commission Vice-President is happy with all the contributions received, which have helped provide him with a more precise idea of the problems affecting Internet users when they are in the digital environment, particularly with regard to geoblocking, which prevents the downloading of audiovisual content due to different broadcasting rights in the member states. The site already contains a good selection of research papers, videos, blogs, screenshots and comments on a wide range of related issues: copyright, platforms, internet governance, e-commerce and cyber-security. Ansip was also pleased that not all the contributions were in English.
The dedicated online website was launched during the Digital4EU forum in Brussels on 24 February. The event enabled the different stakeholders to express their expectations with regard to the single digital market and the website allowed the debate to continue in the virtual arena, as part of the public consultation that is coming to a close on 24 March.
