Brussels, 20/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - MEPs at the EP's transport committee approved the informal agreement reached on the revision of the legal basis for the directive introducing cross-border information exchange between member states on road offences. 32 voted in favour of the agreement reached with the Council on 11 December (see EUROPE 11216), with 1 against and 2 abstentions. This revision of the directive responds to a ruling by the European Court of Justice, which condemned the legal basis for “police cooperation” in this legislation and ordered its revision before May 2015, failing which it could be invalidated.
