16/01/2015 (Agence Europe) - New protected designations. On Thursday 15 January, the European Commission approved applications for three new products to be included on the list of protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI). These are: - for Italy, 'Focaccia di Recco col formaggio' (PGI), a bread dough filled with fresh and creamy melted cheese and produced in the valley of Recco; - for Spain, 'Vinagre de Montilla-Moriles'(AOP), a vinegar; - for Slovakia, 'Klenovecký syrec' (IGP), a semi-hard ripened cheese made from sheep's or cow's milk. These three names will be added to those of nearly 1,250 products already enjoying protection. (LC)
