Greece gets reasoned opinion over “building performance” directive

Brussels, 27/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 26 November, the Commission formally requested Greece to take the necessary measures to fully comply with the obligations incumbent upon it resulting from the 2010/321/EC directive on energy performance in buildings.

Under the terms of this text, member states have to set out minimum requirements for the energy performance of new and renovated buildings, calculate the new cost-optimum level that allow for the requirements to be met and communicate this information to the Commission.

The first deadline for the full transposition of this text was 30 June 2012 but extended until 21 March 2013, to take into account the publication of the Commission's delegated regulation 244/2012 for calculating cost-optimal levels of minimum energy performance requirements.

Greece has two months to comply if it is to avoid being sent to the European Court of Justice. (EH)
