Brussels, 27/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - During a discussion on the contribution of the digital sector to the EUROPE 2020 Strategy, the Telecom Council on Thursday 27 November affirmed that the digital economy should be at the heart of European policy, just as the new president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker had affirmed himself. Ministers underlined the particular importance of the telecommunications sector's contribution to the growth and employment goals set out. The Digital Agenda is one of the seven flagship initiatives put forward by the Commission. Commissioner Oettinger stated that, “the digital sector provides added value to citizens and industrial competitiveness”. (IL)
