Brussels, 17/11/2014 (Agence Europe) - The EU has reiterated its “ support for the process to consolidate the rule of law in Tunisia, particularly by way of an additional donation of more than 34 million dinars in 2015” (approximately €1 = 2.2 Tunisian dinars).
This support, confirmed by the EU representative in Tunisia, Patrick Berckmans, will help launch the second phase of the legal reform support programme. This issue was raised during last week's meeting attended by the Minister for Justice, Hafedh Ben Salah.
European diplomatic sources have indicated that a call for proposals worth 4 million dinars was launched to help support for “Tunisian civil society initiatives promoting international standards, access to justice and the law, improved treatment of prisoners and their rehabilitation”. (FB)
