Brussels, 24/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 23 October, the European Union “strongly” condemned the attack against a member of the Canadian security service the previous day. “We will continue to work closely with Canada and our international partners to combat violent extremism and terrorism in all its forms, as underlined most recently at the 26 September summit in Ottawa”, said a spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton in a press release.
Several European heads of state and government have also condemned the attack and offered their support to Canada.
A man, described by Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper as a “terrorist”, killed a 24-year old soldier and fired multiple shots inside the Canadian Parliament before being killed by the police. (CG)
