Brussels, 24/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 23 October, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published a list of 71 financial conglomerates which have their headquarters in a country in the European Economic Area (EEA).
As defined under Directive 2002/87, the conglomerates break down as follows: 9 in Germany, 8 each in France and Italy, 7 in Sweden, 6 in Norway, 5 each in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, 4 each in Belgium, Finland and Spain, 3 in Austria, 2 each in Denmark and Portugal and 1 each in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Slovenia.
Three further conglomerates are active and supervised in the EU, but have their headquarters in Australia, Switzerland and the United States. (MB)
