Open sky negotiations resume in June

Brussels, 26/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - On 26-27 June, Tunisia and the EU will resume negotiations on the agreement on aviation transport known as the Open Sky agreement.

This announcement was made in Tunis by Minister for Transport Chiheb Ben Ahmed at a general consultation organised by the government to which a number of different tourism sector players were invited, such as the airlines, tour operators, travel agencies and hotels.

The minister said that, “for us, the Open Sky agreement is a productive win-win and sustainable partnership project. It is in all our interests to create the appropriate conditions for it to be successfully implemented”.

This will be the third round of negotiations. Tunisia initially hesitated about committing itself to such discussions due to fears regarding the national airline, Tunisair's, ability to compete with low-cost airlines. (FB)
