On 23 May, the EU condemned the “terrorist” attack on a market in Urumqui, Xinjiang (China) the previous day, describing it as a “senseless act of violence”. The attack left 31 people dead and over 90 wounded. Two vehicles crossed the security barriers and crashed into the crowd that was gathered in the open market. (CG)
