Brussels, 27/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - The Open Education Challenge has received 611 requests from 74 countries across the world for technical assistance and funding for their projects. Set up in partnership with the European Commission as part of the Startup Europe project, the Open Education Challenge initiative seeks to facilitate the development of projects by entrepreneurs in the technology and internet fields in Europe by promoting innovation, growth and job creation. One of its aims is also to help entrepreneurs who are seriously motivated by education goals and convinced that technology is going to profoundly transform the way in which citizens learn, are taught and trained and who have set up or are on the point of setting up a company that will have an innovative effect on education. In July 2014, finalists will take part in a workshop in Barcelona during which 10 winning start-ups will be announced. (IL)
