Brussels, 27/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - The candidates who have been nominated by the main European political parties to succeed José Manuel Barroso as president of the European Commission will come face to face for an initial great European election debate in Maastricht on 28 April - which is to be broadcast in 13 languages on Euronews, announced the University of Maastricht in a press release.
The debate, which is being organised by the University of Maastricht, Connect Limburg and the European Youth Forum, will take place in front of 700 people. Jean-Claude Juncker (EPP), Martin Schulz (PES), Guy Vershofstadt (ALDE), Ska Keller and José Bové (Greens) and Alexis Tsipras (EL, Party of the European Left) will take part in the debate. Another Eurovision debate is scheduled between the same candidates on 15 May and will be broadcast from the European Parliament to the 28 EU member states. (LC)
