12/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - Pressure equipment - agreement at Coreper. - On Wednesday 12 February, the European ambassadors gave their green light to a draft directive aiming to tighten up and simplify the surveillance of the movement of pressure equipment, including everyday items such as boilers or pressure cookers, and other articles required for the chemical, petroleum or high-temperature industries (glass, paper). The producers of these instruments, which are resistant to pressure of up to 0.5 bar, will be able to place their products onto the European market more easily, whether they are produced in the EU or elsewhere, or even if they are second-hand. This draft directive responds to a desire to restore consumer confidence and simplify the European legislative landscape. (MD/transl.fl)
