On 12 February, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the acquisition of joint control over INFOSEC by NEC and Mitsubishi, all of Japan. INFOSEC is a provider of IT services specialising in information security, risk management solutions and services. NEC is a multinational provider of information technology services and products. Mitsubishi is a multinational company with operations in global environmental and infrastructure business, industrial finance, logistics and development, energy, metals, machinery, chemicals and living essentials. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns, mainly because INFOSEC will have no activity in the European Economic Area (EEA). (OL/transl.fl)
