EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) bosnia and herzegovina

12/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - Turkish call for EU and NATO rapprochement with Sarajevo. On 12 February, Turkey's Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu called on the European Union and NATO to accelerate their rapprochement with Bosnia and Herzegovina so as to prevent trouble in this country. The people of Bosnia and Herzegovina are currently protesting against poverty. “Removing the obstacles and paving the way for Bosnia's accelerated rapprochement with the EU and NATO is of crucial importance”, Davutoglu stated at a press conference in Sarajevo. “There must be no delay. It must be started immediately”, he said, adding that “we have already seen in history that, when we hesitate or wait to find solutions, the cost is much greater in the end than it would have been if the aid had arrived earlier”. High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton is due to visit Bosnia at the end of next week. (CG/transl.fl)
