23/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - Sabine Lautenschläger proposed as vice-chair of SSM Supervisory Board. On Thursday 23 January, the ECB proposed the appointment by the European Council of Sabine Lautenschläger as Vice-Chair of the Supervisory Board of the single supervisory mechanism, following her successful hearing at the European Parliament, in line with the SSM regulation (the vice-chair has to come from the ECB). The SSM board is to be created to hive off monetary policy from bank supervision at the ECB. It will directly supervise nearly 130 big banks in the eurozone from November 2014. (MB/transl.fl)
